iPhone OS 4 and iPhone 4G

Alot of hype has been going aroung about iPhone OS 4 and especially iPhone 4G after the recent events at gizmodo. There where even police raids and near arrests going on! iPhone OS 4 has been awaited by the iPhone community for a while and I think Apple has really gotten most of the features from jailbreaking users saying that they wouldn’t jailbreak if the features where built in. For all the features see here. The iPhone 4G on the other hand, has been not so much awaited. I think current iphone users are just hoping that it isn’t as hardware “lacking” as some of the old models. For more on the iPhone 4G see here.

Design critique is very important

Websites are distributed services that aren’t owned or used by any one person. Therefore, soliciting feedback from a variety of users throughout the design process is essential. Shared ownership isn’t easy to uphold, however; it simply isn’t a skill designers are taught. What more, unsolicited design critique can be easy to confuse with outright rejection.

Though some people may disagree, critique is one of the most important things in almost every job. If you are working with customers, (who isn’t?) then you must have feedback on your product or service. It’s essential if you want to have a succesful company, business, or in this case, website. The only thing is that it is a lot harder to do digitally than realistically, especially with designing websites! If the customer doesn’t like how it looks or is set out, or thinks your website layout is bad or just plain ugly, how are you going to know? See more and find out how.

Typography is a great thing that catches the users attention and is normally also easy to create (with various tools). Typography is normally hand-written, but with tools today are really to create/design digitally, which is very good for web developers and designers, or people just looking to make some text look astoundingly beautiful. Alot of people think now that they have to be built from scratch using photoshop. This is not true. They can come in fonts, they can come in programs, or optionally can be built in photoshop, but not from scratch. Twitter For Android

Yes, thats right, Twitter has come out for Android 2.1, and I’m sure all Android fans are excited. Not really, since only 27.3% of them can actually use it. I have to admit though, it does have a rather nice UI (User Interface). See Below for pictures. Twitter say’s that “Mobile phones are increasingly part of our lives, and we seem to be doing everything but making phone calls. Reading the news, watching a YouTube video, and taking photos at events like the World Cup are things we expect to do on mobile phones – sharing our experiences on these little screens should be just as easy and fast as on big ones.” Yes. Twitter is right. But it’s kinda weird when alot of other mobile phones do not have the official Twitter client but only the mobile website or third-party clients, so I think Twitter may be teaming up with android. more on the official blog here.

Negative space logos can be more memorable

Creative and unique logos can almost imprint themselves into the observer’s mind, and negative space logos can be some of the most creative and fun logos, yet they look so simple, but you then realise the trick. They are very memorable and I personally love them.

Why should I design negative space logos instead of normal ones?

Because they are normally easier to design (electronically) and leave a large imprint on the viewer.
